ARISE Class of 2009

by ARISE  |  January 14, 2010

December 12, 2009 was a bittersweet day at ARISE. It was a day of laughter and tears. It was a day of remembering the past and planning for the future. It was the day of the ARISE Graduation. After a wonderful four months surrounded by 52 Spirit-filled students, this was the day we would send them off “unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Looking back at the last four months the Lord definitely answered our prayers for a class that would set the tone for all future classes in our new home, Sonora, CA. This class was marked by cultural diversity and sincere spirituality. It was such an inspiration to see people of different age, ethnicity, and heritage bonding together through prayer and honest study of the Scriptures. This group of young (and not so young) people epitomized the desired outcome of the ARISE Flagship Program: changed lives.

The year was highlighted by several uplifting events including Bible Boot Camp, a two-week course on how to give an effective Bible study on the doctrines of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. As an added bonus, during Bible Boot Camp the ARISE class ballooned from 52 to almost 90, which included over 20 members from the local Sonora SDA Church. Another highlight was the evangelistic series where David Asscherick, Matt Parra, Nathan Renner, and Brian Simmons teamed up to deliver powerful, Bible-based messages to the community of Sonora. Appeals were given and many decisions were made. We praise God for how He worked throughout the meetings.

With another class gone we prepare for the next. Though we were blessed with such a great program in 2009, we pray for even greater things in 2010.

We thank all of you that kept ARISE in your prayers. They were answered in a mighty way. We ask that you will continue to keep the students in your prayers as they go out to finish the work of our Lord Jesus Christ.
