Murphy\u2019s Law states that everything that can go wrong will. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s true, but the law seems to describe 2020 quite well. As if a global pandemic wasn\u2019t enough, we\u2019ve faced murder hornets, wildfires, political tension, and economic uncertainty. In the words of one witty meme: \u201cI don\u2019t know about y\u2019all, but I could really use some precedented times.\u201d 2020 has reminded us how quickly things can change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The apostle Paul predicted that life as we know it simply wouldn\u2019t last. \u201cAs for prophecies, they will pass away\u2026 as for knowledge, it will pass away\u201d (1 Corinthians 13:8, ESV). Paul knew what God had revealed to the prophet Daniel about the future. Every earthly kingdom and political power would eventually end (see Daniel 2). According to Paul, what would be left of reality? Love. \u201cLove never fails,\u201d he wrote. Some translations render this as, \u201cLove never ends\u201d (1 Corinthians 13:8, ESV).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2020 has reminded us how quickly things can change.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Pain ends. Love doesn\u2019t. Leaders fail. Love doesn\u2019t. Loneliness ends. Love doesn\u2019t. I\u2019ve never heard this reality expressed more beautifully than in the lyrics of Andrew Peterson. Let his words sink deeply into your mind and heart:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
