In 1985, a few of us new converts—James Rafferty, Sue Gibson, and myself—received what we knew to be specific direction from the God of the universe. We were young and on fire for the Lord (now we’re older but still on fire for the Lord). James and I were conducting small group Bible studies in homes and traveling to preach in local venues. We were driven by these astounding prophetic words:

“I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory” (Revelation 18:1).

Here John foretells a time when the message of the gospel will go global. People all over the world will have their hearts and minds “illuminated” with the glorious truth of God’s love embodied in Christ. We realized that something massive and dramatic would have to happen in order for the message to be placed within the reach of everybody on the planet. And then, somewhere along the lines as we were preaching and teaching, we read these practical marching orders:

“And in a large degree through our publishing houses is to be accomplished the work of that other angel who comes down from heaven with great power and who lightens the earth with his glory” (Ellen White, Testimonies for the Church, vol. 7, p. 140).

That’s it!

Well over a half billion publications in more than 40 languages have been distributed around the world free of charge

Immediately we were certain that God wanted us to publish truth-filled literature that would go out to the world by the millions, and the publishing ministry of Light Bearers was born. In just a matter of months, God provided our first building and publishing equipment. The vision was clear: print and distribute as much literature as possible as fast as possible, giving people around the world free access in their own languages to the saving knowledge of the gospel in the context of the three angels’ messages of Revelation 14.

Since then, well over a half billion publications in more than 40 languages have been distributed around the world free of charge. And this is no time to slow down our efforts. We are more on fire than ever to scatter truth-filled literature like the leaves of autumn all over the earth. Thank you for sharing this vision with us and empowering us by your prayers and support to keep it happening.
