I need to tell you about Donald and his fellow Bible worker, Juan Moisés, who recently experienced something incredible. They were hiking through the pouring rain in the Cordillera Mountains of Costa Rica, heading toward a village inhabited by Cabécar people, the largest indigenous group in Costa Rica. Juan and Donald work for Alas de Vida, a non-profit that shares the gospel in Central America. Over the last couple of years, Light Bearers has sent Alas de Vida gospel literature, free of charge, for their church planters and Bible workers to distribute.

When Donald and Juan finally arrived after walking for hours through dense jungle, Donald found Carlos, a leader in the community whom he had met the week prior. They chatted for a little while at Carlos’ house. Then, Carlos took them to the village temple, where many people had gathered at his invitation.

At the temple, Carlos announced to the audience that, in his experience, many people flaunt their religious beliefs in ways that make them seem superior for holding them. But Donald and Juan did not have that attitude. They were humble, not proud or pushy. Because of this, he would give Donald time to present a message to the group. Donald told the story of Revelation 14 about a creator God who is ultimately worthy to receive our worship.

After Donald finished speaking, Carlos told the people that he believed everything Donald shared was in Scripture and invited him and Juan to return the next Saturday.

The next weekend at the temple, Donald and Juan were there, and they brought with them Bibles from Light Bearers to share with the people.

Before Donald and Juan could preach, though, Carlos told them that while they were gone, he’d had a dream. In his dream, he was standing at the entrance of the temple.

He saw Juan and Donald inside the temple holding candles. Outside the temple were many people, and Carlos stood between the two groups.

Carlos heard Donald and Juan calling people to come inside, and one of the people outside asked Carlos to let him in. Others said it would be better to stay outside. Carlos began begging the people to come inside. Two people did. Juan and Donald gave candles to them.

Suddenly, a big, tall man stood up and told Carlos, “You have to listen and do everything these men tell you and share this message with others.” Carlos started to cry, so the man came over and hugged him. Then, Carlos woke up.

Carlos took this dream as a sign from God that Donald and Juan needed to keep preaching. The people in the community were moved by Carlos’ testimony. They started writing down Bible passages and studying its pages.

Donald and Juan regularly go back to that village. They’ve shared Light Bearers Bibles and use them to teach the people about Jesus and the gospel, and this is largely possible because of your generosity. Were it not for your support, we would not be able to put free Bibles in the hands of the Cabécar people. Because of your partnership, lives are being transformed. For that, we are profoundly grateful.

But there are still so many waiting for the same hope Carlos found. Will you help extend this impact even further?

Yes, want to impact more lives with my gift!
